In 1974, thirty six years ago, Jose Vieira and a group of friends joined together to carry through a dream; a dream that would integrate the joys of Portuguese Folklore into Canadian society.
The election of the first Board of Directors of Casa do Minho took place during a meeting on the 20th day of May, 1974. Soon after, Casa do Minho's youth group’s first performance was at the Italian Pavilion during the Folkorama of 1974. Following the success of the youth group, the first adult group preformed during a party at the Luso Canadian Club in November of the same year.
Over the years Casa do Minho have participated in many local events including City of Brandon's Festival and the Red River Ex Parade.
Casa do Minho continues to participate in local events and hosts many events and parties that celebarte Portuguese culture throughout the year.
